I'm a student in the midst of my digital design degree with a strong passion for creating visually compelling and user-friendly designs. While I may not have years of experience, I am eager to gain practical experience and develop my skills in the industry through an internship opportunity.
In the beginning I felt overwhelmed by the vast scope of gender equality issues. To navigate, I conducted extensive research to identify the most pertinent areas. Ultimately, I focused on physical and psychological violence in relationships.
Further narrowing down, I explored various "how might we" questions, leading to the formulation of "How might we create a personalized safety app for individuals in abusive relationships, facilitating their escape?"
With a clear direction, I proceeded to develop a sitemap, design system, wireframes, conducted user testing, and iterated to refine the solution.
Brainstorming and research
To tackle the challenge, we began by conducting extensive research on the client's industry, target audience, and competitors. This allowed us to gather valuable insights and establish a solid foundation for the design process. We then proceeded to develop wireframes and prototypes, iterating upon them based on feedback from the client and usability testing. Collaborating closely with the customer, we ensured that the design was implemented reliably.
My project followed a structured approach to achieve its goals. It began with thorough research to understand the context and needs. I conducted interviews to gain insights directly from potential users. This led to a clear problem definition, pinpointing the core challenges. Creating personas helped personify the target audience, making their needs tangible.
To visually guide the project, I crafted a moodboard that captured the desired aesthetic and tone. A well-defined stylesheet ensured design consistency across all elements. Wireframes came next, providing a skeletal structure to the interface, focusing on layout and functionality.
Finally, I developed interactive prototypes that allowed me to test the product on people. This iterative process ensured a user-centered design approach, resulting in a solution that resonates effectively with the intended audience.
Across Disciplines
In our collaborative project, we embarked on a journey to create an engaging brand, Naturally. Together, we identified three essential products tailored for our target audience: the backpacker bag, toilet bag, and smartwatch, designed for avid travelers who prefer exploring by foot and thrive on mobility.
Defining the Path
Our first step was crafting a comprehensive customer journey, providing valuable insights into our audience's needs and expectations. This foundational stage set the course for our project, ensuring that every design decision would resonate with our target group.
Forging Uniqueness
To stand out in a competitive landscape, we conducted extensive market research, analyzing similar brands. This step allowed us to pinpoint unique selling points, ultimately shaping our brand identity.
We, the digital designers took the reins, developing responsive website wireframes. Rigorous testing with real users provided invaluable feedback, enabling us to refine our designs iteratively.
